He Who Forgets the Past
Many demand credit for the dictum, ‘’He who
does not remember the past is condemn to repeat it’’. All should agree to its
accuracy.
When in Zurich, Vladimir I. Lenin
defined the aim of the Communist Revolution. He was not concentrating on the
forcing of Communism in Russia, but on efforts to shake the civil and social order
worldwide and the imposition of the “dictatorship of the Proletariat” in any
locale, in every possible country. Indeed in his book, The Rise and fall
of the Soviet Empire, Brian Crozier describes in detail the
implementation of this policy by Joseph Stalin. Stalin’s gross mistake
was his demand that all will recognize him as the only leader of
world Communism. His policy caused the breach with China under Mao
Tze Tung, and Yugoslavia under Marshall Joseph Tito.
The world failed to understand the danger in
Stalin. So much so, that Winston Churchill, felt during the convention
in the Crimea that Stalin’s “word was his bond”.
Lord Allen Bullok in his book Hitler
and Stalin Parallel Lives, compares the aims of Stalin to that of
Hitler. Like Stalin, Hitler wished to ensure the collapse of the world
political and social order existing at the time in Europe.
Hitler’s political success at the beginning of
his crusade was due inter alia to the failure of the free world to
understand and read his intentions. Neville Chamberlain became the
symbol of ridicule in political understanding, whose appeasement brought about
the collapse of the world.
Both Hitler and Stalin attracted the masses
with fear and ideology.
And as King Solomon concluded ‘’and that which
is done is that which shall be done; and there is no new thing under the sun’’.
Thomas Friedman of The New York Times recently
warned the world about the religious dictatorships, when referring to Islam.
Iran is heading this dictatorship. It will pay any price, and force others to
pay any price so that it can conquer the leadership of Islam. True, the most attractive
way will be to bring about the collapse of Israel, but Israel is only the beginning,
not the end. Professor Amal Saad-Ghorayer of the Lebanese American
University has recently published a book called Hizbu’llah, Politics,
Religion. Hizbu’llah being the long arm of Iran published
its political manifesto in 1992, which according to Professor Saad-Ghorayeb –
Subscribes not only to the Qur’an but to Marxist theory as well. Hizbu’llah’s
theory, as did Communism’s and Nazism’s, divides the world to oppressors and
oppressed. The oppressed will have the upper hand. As Stalin wanted to ‘’unite’’
workers all over the world, as Hitler wanted to unite all Aryans, so does Hizbu’llah
‘’strive – according to Muhammad Mushin – for the unity of the world’’
under Islam.

Islam fundamentalism could be found all over
and almost in every Muslim country. In the Philippines; in Algiers, where they
cause murder and destruction all over, The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, The
Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Hizbu’llah in Lebanon, Hammas and the
Palestinian Authority exercising the habit of sending young Shahids to
celebrate with virgins in heaven after committing suicide, killing children and
innocent bystanders in various parts of Israel or in Lebanon. All supervised
by the Shiites Mullahs in Teheran. The writer Salman Rashdi concludes
in an article he published recently, that the debate is indeed about
Islam.
The majority of those who believe in Muhammad
are in as much danger from fundamentalism as non-Muslims are. Fundamentalism is
a result of the Madrass, of cruel people who take advantage of those who
have not, and – as accurately stated by extreme Mullahs [who like Arafat – will
send as Shahids someone else’s children, never their own].
Those who seek hegemony on Islam and rule over
the believers in Muhammad do so from Teheran, The Bak’a Valley and Gaza, in the
same manner their predecessors did in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Berlin. The
Islam Revolution headed by Iran reflects the Communist’s efforts under Lenin
and Stalin, and Nazism’s efforts under Hitler, and is executing its philosophy
in the same manner. Blood and destruction.
The West has to understand. Israel is only the
beginning. The plague will encounter the modern Arab states, and the West.
America is Satan not because of Israel. America is Satan because it contradicts
Islam the way it is understood by The Shiites. But so does England, and so does
France. And France’s unqualified support to Arafat or to Khoumenni [at
the time] will not be of help when and if the Shiites will be able to dictate;
precisely as was the case with communism and Nazism. Mr. Saad – Ghorayeb writes
in his book, that during the war between Iran and Iraq, the Hizbu’llah intended
to form an Islamic state in Lebanon following Iran’s victory. ‘’As envisaged by
the party, and Iraqi defeat would have led to the inevitable overthrow of the
secular Ba’athist regime and the institution of Islamic rule in its place. This
would have paved the way for the creation of an all – encompassing Islamic
state in the region, of which Lebanon would have been an intrinsic”.
Margaret Thatcher believes that ‘’But as long as America works to maintain its
technological lead, there is no reason why any challenge to American dominance
should succeed. And that it turn will help ensure stability and peace’’. I
believe the same – with respect – wrong assumption was made by Francis
Fukuyama in his book The End of History and The Last Man, as
the more advanced humanity gets, the easier will it be to destroy it. Advance
technology therefor will not suffice. The prevention of such technology of
reaching extremists is the aim. This can only be done if extremism is challenged
in an uncompromising manner.
The only question remaining is when will the
world understand that it faces the gravest threat to its existence; before or
after a destruction? When will the west understand that Appeasement is as wrong
now as it was in the 1930s; before or after the collapse of stability? Will the
West remember the past, or will it be condemned to repeat it?
