Congress! You are
wrong
Like many around the world so did I watch the congress
debating the impeachment of President Bill Clinton… I submit to you that
Congress was out of order in taking the initiative at this stage.
The congress is to change face in January. The last election
to the congress will ‘invite’ many Congressmen – mostly Republican to leave
chambers. In every democracy, following election, and prior to the
implementation of the election’s results, the ‘old’ parliament restricts itself
to the minimum, in order to guarantee the smooth operation of government. It
does not undertake any major task, same to be left to the incoming Parliament.
This is so, because many in the ‘old’ parliament lost their
constituents’ confidence for someone else. In other words, they no longer represent the will of the people, and only due to technicality they still
retain in their position until the ‘new’ parliament is ‘called to order’.

Last but not least, Mr. Levingston’s call from the
President to follow his example, is wrong. The honorable gentleman did not
resign because he thought he acted wrongly, but he realized to ‘having been
found’ by Mr. Flynt. I do not underestimate the courage and the
congressmen’s desire to minimize damage to the image of the Congress – a most
noble consideration – but it was ‘finding out of the deed’, not the deed itself
that initiated Mr. Levingston’s resignation. This is not be the criteria to
follow.
