The London Times –
September 2001
I would appreciate the publication of the following letter
in your column:
The convention in Durban has proved once again the
hysteria and hatred that Israel is facing in the Middle East.
Thus, Syria insisted on deleting any condemnation regarding the denial
of the Holocaust; while the Khadi in the main mosque in Gaza
compared the Jews to monkeys to be eliminated; Israel is accused
of racism. Although the F-15 fighters bomb and destroyed empty buildings
within the Palestinian Authority the Egyptian foreign minister
declare in a press conference in Durban ''what difference does it make if
five or ten cars are blown up in Jerusalem?''
Palestinian television ''quoting'' children who have
died during the Intifada, propagating and inviting other children to
follow them as Shahids (holy martyrs). So, who really is responsible and
promoting the death of Palestinian children?
Children's Party in Gaza |
Palestinian television broadcasts about summer
schools for four-year-olds carrying ammunition like toys and exercising the
burning of an Israeli bus. Some Palestinians took the initiative
of implementing the ''idea'' and caused indiscriminate death.
Twenty-one children were killed and seventy were wounded on
a Friday night in Tel Aviv. Eleven other children were killed in the
center of Jerusalem. The response within the Palestinian Authority
was dancing in the streets, while Israel believes in the bible’s dictum,
‘’Rejoice not when thyne enemy falleth and let not thy heart be glad when he
stumbleth’’. The Palestinians are desecrating every archaeological
element – Jewish and Christian alike – in the Temple Mount, which
reflects a similarity to the destruction of the Buddha status in Afghanistan.
Indeed, are we dealing with enlightened people or with the dark ages?
Arafat demanded of his people ten days ago to ignore
his formal statements of restraint and to “kill a Jew every day”.
Indeed, while Arafat’s own daughter is living in a
luxury apartment in Paris. Take notice none of the children of leading Palestinians
were injured during the Intifada. The Children of the poor are sent
to face the Israelis, while the children of the leaders are enjoying a
luxurious summer in Spain. While the average Palestinian is
challenged by financial crisis, his leaders’ financial stability becomes
stronger.
These are not assumptions. Regretfully these are all facts.
Sincerely yours,
Zalli Jaffe.
