Times London, Heathrow - September 2007

Times London, Heathrow

An economy of a nation depends inter alia on the ability of those who contribute to the same economy to enter and exit the country at ease. Moreover, the country should encourage foreigners to use its goods
and services whenever possible. As the famous "promotion formula" that covered England 20 years ago:- "Buy English Goods".

Millions enter England every year. Millions more fly British Airways and thus have to use Heathrow airport between flights using Heathrow for connecting flights.

Unfortunately, recently the "message" any traveler "visiting" Heathrow  gets is "the more difficult it is. The better it is".  Well it is not.  No other airports [not even JFK] prohibits a traveler from carrying 2 begs to an airplane, even those traveling first class. Now, a business traveler really does not want to wait for his baggage at baggage claim for over an hour, and so he or she will fly Swiss Airlines from Zurich or Lufthansa from Frankfurt rather then British Airways via Heathrow.

Moreover, no other airport we visit [and we visit many around the world] is as slow and time consuming as Heathrow. Many a times passengers wait for an hour for passport control, and bags are delayed for hours [and too often baggage simply does not arrive at all as July August confirmed].

Crowded Heathrow Intl Airport

Heathrow is the most important entrance to England, a major junction for people who travel around the world. A major source of income both to BAA and British Airways, thus to the economy of the UK. It is BAA's responsibility to make sure we travelers would rather use "English goods" then German or Swiss. So far, they are really not doing a very good job. As a matter of fact, quite a bad one.
